STUDENT PERFORMANCE
North Carolina students in grades 3-8 must complete annual
ABCs End-of-Grade tests in reading, mathematics and science
(grades 5 and 8). Students enrolled in the following courses
must complete End-of-Course tests: English I, Algebra I, Algebra II,
Geometry (will be eliminated in the 2010-11 school year), Biology,
Physical Science, Civics & Economics, and US History. Results
from tests taken by students in this school are reported below.
Overall Student Performance
In any group where the percentage of students at
a grade level is greater than 95% or less than 5%, the actual values many
not be displayed because of federal privacy regulations. In these cases,
the results will be shown as >95% or <5% for the group.

National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)
The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), also
known as "the Nation's Report Card" is the only nationally representative and continuing
assessment of what America's students know and can do in various subject areas.
Since 1969, assessments have been conducted periodically in reading, mathematics,
science, writing, U.S. history, civics, geography, and the arts.

SCHOOL PERFORMANCE
Each year, schools in North Carolina may receive
several designations based on their performance on the state's ABCs tests.
Those designations are awarded on the basis of the percentage of students
performing at grade level and on whether students have learned as much
as they are expected to learn in one year.

Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) Results
North Carolina has set target goals that schools and districts
must meet to make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) under the No
Child Left Behind (NCLB).
AYP
Targets
Our district
did not make
adequate yearly progress.
We met 50
of our 73 performance targets.
Click here for additional information on AYP by student group and subject.
Click here to learn more about District Improvement Status.
District Improvement Status
Under No Child Left Behind, school districts
enter Title I District Improvement status by not meeting target goals
in the same subject (reading or mathematics) in each of three grade
spans (3-5, 6-8, and high school) for two years in a row.
A district in Title I District Improvement must take certain
measures to improve performance. Below is the status of the current
year (2010-11) based on 2009-10 data.
Our district is in year 6 of Title I District Improvement.
Our district missed the following target(s): Reading.
