On this measure, smaller numbers are better than large ones; there are more computers available to students when the number of students per computer is low.

Your school's principal or your school's technology leader is a good source of information if you have questions about the number of Internet-connected digital learning devices in your school or about the use of the Internet in educating students. Other questions to ask:

• What is the speed of the Internet connections in your school? Slower or unstable connections are more difficult to use for some types of research and activities.
• Where are the Internet-connected digital learning devices located in your school? Are these areas to which students have regular access?
• How often is the Internet used to support or deliver instruction in your school?
